Tim Blythe

Tim is an inspirational leader, bringing 30+ years of experience focused on growth and organizational/operational effectiveness to Silver Tree. He has demonstrated successes identifying, developing and exploiting opportunities to improve business performance and profitability through technology and digital transformation, a perfect fit to our technology, strategy and operations teams.

Tim has broad industry experience that includes banking, telecommunications, technology, and consulting. His experiences allow him to apply cross-functional expertise in finance, credit, risk policy, systems and operations to drive top-line growth while reducing costs, improving team engagement and delivering world class customer satisfaction. 

Prior to joining Silver Tree, Tim served in a client technology leadership role for two years with EY.  Additionally, Tim worked at IBM for 17 years in a variety of consulting global business leadership roles where technology innovation and improving client’s systems- and operational efficiency and effectiveness were a core focus of the teams he led.  

While Tim’s experiences are broad, his capabilities run deep and he feels most passionate about technology transformation and helping clients see where and how technology investments will produce the most value to their business and stakeholders. 

While working at IBM, Tim was tapped to lead restructuring efforts of a $90m business that had seen an accelerated decline in revenue and overall financial performance.  He quickly addressed the multiple challenges by reassessing and overhauling the business model, refining service offerings to support market needs, changing back-office systems and processes to remove inefficiencies, and restructuring the global organization.  These actions restored growth and profitability for first time in six years, earned the organization recognition as Top 20 IT Training Company (which was then sustained for four years), and ultimately improved overall client satisfaction by 5 pts.

Tim has maintained a strong focus on operational efficiency and while working at Bank of America, he defined and led implementation efforts for an enterprise-wide program to track and effectively manage use of external services firms, resulting in sustained annual savings of $500m. Additionally, that work was extended to include procurement processes and payment terms associated with contract programming, computer hardware, and telecommunications equipment that led to additional annual savings of $35-40m.

While engaged with a large credit card company to perform due diligence and feasibility analyses that lead to the development of a consolidated gap closure plan to streamline multiple accounts receivable systems for multinational portfolio, Tim worked across multiple teams and business units to create detailed and highly usable financial models and technical evaluations of IT infrastructure, application systems, backup/recovery, management processes, organization structure/governance and data center security.

Additionally, Tim was involved in more than 20 complex transactions involving acquisitions and divestitures of banks and other depository institutions.  He is deeply experienced in post-merger integration and transition efforts including human resources, hardware and software system selection and integration, financial modeling,  regulatory filings, and more.  Beyond that, while working at IBM, Tim performed due diligence for several large acquisition and divestiture transactions where his expertise was leveraged to assess strategic match, operational readiness and potential financial impacts that was used as a basis for go/no-go decisions.

Tim has a BS in Business Administration and Accounting (concentration) from Rochester Institute of Technology.  Tim and his wife live near Pinehurst, North Carolina.
